Peru at a Glance

What are the first things that spring to mind when one considers a Trip to Peru?

If you were to answer Machu Picchu, Llamas and Incas you would barely be scratching the surface. Whereas indeed, the much renowned Machu Picchu registers almost automatically, the Llama and the rich History of the Inca too; Peru has a wealth of opportunities awaiting the prospective visitor in terms of Culture, Adventure, Food, relaxation, shopping and much more besides.

At Peru Quechua we aim to equip you with the best-balanced Trip itinerary we can find to match your pocket and tastes, while at the same time ensuring that you are left in safe and reliable hands at every state of your journey during your stay with us in Peru.

Peru is a very proud nation and particularly in terms of Tourism there are regulations here to ensure that you the tourist are treated with the respect and quality of service you deserve. However in the real world this is not always the case. Our aim is that Tourists come and enjoy Peru and only take away great memories of their time here and perhaps the desire to return someday and that you avoid some of the less desirable pitfalls that can muddy your path. In parts of the country for example, you may arrive at your destination to find that you are immediately herded onto a sight-seeing bus like cattle while your luggage is forwarded on to your hotel or accommodation. The last thing you want is to get into an argument with your guides, particularly if you don't speak Spanish or to have to hold up the trip by insisting they escort you to your accommodation only to find that indeed your baggage has not arrived as you had been assured it would. This is just one example of how it all can turn quite sour pretty quickly - and it is by no means an isolated example. Communication at times in Peru can be quite bad. Consider that in areas like Cuzco, Aguas Calientes (Machu Piccu) and Puno (Titicaca) the main language spoken there is Quechua (Ketch-wah) while the main language spoken in peru is Spanish, Customs and human interaction can be very different to what you as a tourist are accustomed to. We therefore strive to work through reliable contacts and partners to try and avoid situations like this.

Likewise, for the overland traveler planning to get around by bus: Whereas we cannot guarantee the safety of our client we can advise or try to get them on the safest route possible from A to B. Peru unfortunately has a record of highway banditry, particularly targeted are inter-provincial bus routes. We want your stay here to be happy, memorable but above all a safe one!

Having said this much, unless you already have a clearly defined pattern in your mind on what you see to be the ideal Peru Travel plan be sure to check out this site in a bit more depth. As a foreigner myself who visited Peru 6 times before marrying and settling here I have to recommend you consider a 21 day stay as being optimal, allowing you to take in The Sacred Valley and Cuzco, Titicaca / Arequipa (The Condor Pass) and perhaps a taste of the Rainforest, The Beaches or Cajamarca. No matter how much you pack in in that time you will still only have taken a very small slice of Peru away with you on leaving - of that you may rest assured!
